We are in need of a few household items this semester:
Aluminum pie pans, tubes and egg cartons, paper grocery bags, wire hangers, fabric scraps and newspapers are needed this semester. Thanks for all the great stuff!
Welcome!
I’m hoping this wiki will keep Fairview Families informed of all the happenings in room 22. Our art room is a busy place bustling with adventures and creations minute by minute! I have been keeping the paint brushes busy at Fairview Charter School since 1988. There have been many changes over the years but one thing is for certain Fairview students are super smART stars! Technology has been the biggest change. Fairview artists are hard at work planning a creating their own projects as we shift into a student choice based studio. TAB or Teaching Artistic Behavior isn't new to art education check out this site for more behind this model for teaching and learning: TAB As assigned projects are finished and presented we will continue our old habits or service learning too! We also do many service learning projects throughout the year. We have community connection with Outpost Natural Foods , The Hunger Task Force , The Milwaukee County Zoo , The Wisconsin Humane Society , and Milwaukee Empty Bowls!
All About Ms George
I am an AmeriCorps teacher volunteer and truly believe that creating art for our community benefits all involved! Students always ask: "Are you an artist?" I tell them I love art and I do make art, but mostly I love sharing what I know about art and art mediums and sparking their creative energies! I think that makes me more of an art teacher than an artist; however, when I’m in the middle of a drawing or sculpture demonstration, many of my students would beg to differ! I knew I wanted to be an art teacher in second grade when I was "The Art Helper” in elementary school. I went to Mount Mary College , where I majored in Art Education and Art Therapy. I spent my senior summer abroad to finish a few classes in London and traveled the European continent to visit all the famous European art museums and architecture! I still travel every chance I get--most often to visit my family in Arizona. My favorite place to visit is Yellowstone National Park --I have even been there in the winter! I’m in Chicago as often as I can be and love to visit New York City. I squeeze in time go to the museums there too! I love big cities and art museums but I equally enjoy camping and being outdoors. I have one daughter, two sweet cats and a crazy pair of Pomeranians.
